could someone please advise how to put the name of a boat onto the hull. Are custom made stickers available?

I use vinyl letters such as those from BECC http://www.becc.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d2.html
Others are available. Some suppliers will do bespoke names unfortunately I don't have a provider for that.
Alternatively you could make your own transfer/decal if you have a printer.

Or if you want 3D figures, this type look good mounted on wooden boards if it's a classic you're after.

BECC are good but only offer capital lettering.

 I find for larger fonts I choose what I want off the computer word menu and print them onto thin card . I then cut them out using a micro chisel and X 3.5 magnification specs and then glue them on the hull . for smaller lettering I buy the vinyl adhesive lettering
