Building Instructions for Slipway Models HMS Sentinel
« on: August 13, 2021, 07:35:46 pm »

I have purchased a second hand Slipway Models HMS Sentinel kit but the instructions have been lost.
The kit is supposed to be complete otherwise, but as from reviews I understand that these instruction are very good and comprehensive I am trying to find a copy.

Maker: Model Slipwy
Type:    Patrol vessel
Power:
2 x Electric
Is it possible to get a copy of the instructions, or does somebody have a copy that they no longer need.

I think this would make a nice model to add to my fleet.

I am Treasurer for the Crawley Model Boat Club.
I have a number of models some from kits and some completely scratch built from plans.
RG65, 6M yacht, Smit Rotterdam, Push Tug and a Hydrofoil, to name a few.

Hi Jerry, welcome to the forum.

...when I put your request into goole there came up an amazing comrehensive build blog on "thercmodelboatforum" -they even photographed the original pages of the instructions in the background at each stage.  Granted though it is more than blurry on instructions but it's a very good write-up.

Not to say someone on here can't hep with the proper instructions.

Thanks RST I had already found that from a google search, plus some other details and mods but although I can probably build this without the instructions I think it would be easier with them.
I've read that they even detail the directions of the overlaps of the parts so it all fits together accurately.

Your absolutely right Martin.
I have already looked at the details in those links and I can probably build it with this info.
I am just hoping someone has the instructions that they no longer need or could be copied.
I know this is copyright of Slipway Models I am just wanting to complete the supplied kit.

It might be a 1000 piece puzzle without a picture for me not having any instructions or drawings, but I am making some progress with this kit.
So far I have found 3 parts with errors but there was enough spare sheet to replace them.
I am using all the information and pictures that I could find with Google searches plus a couple of magazine articles.
I also got a look at a completed model at the Cygnets Club "Boats on the Mote" event on the 19th September.
I took some extra pictures of that one to help as well.
I was surprised that there is no detail at all in the main bridge which is surrounded by windows, so I will need to decide if I am going to put something in there or maybe tint the windows with car window film.
So far I have not seen anything to show what it should look like inside and it will end up sealed with no access when built.
I am assuming it would be Light Admiralty Grey (Duck Egg Blue) inside, a few more Google searches perhaps.

Making progress on this build but I am not sure what the lights should be.
Can anyone tell me what they should be, especially the stern lights.

As far as I can work out from pictures of HMCC Sentinel these are what I think they should be.

Top of mast    Blue over White 360 degree
Mast Nav        White over White 225 degree
Mast by radar  Blue (flashing?)
Port Nav         Red over Red 112.5 degree
Starb Nav       Green over Green 112.5 degree

Now I'm guessing

Stern Nav       White over White 135 degree
Lower stern     Blue over Blue

Also are the blue lights rotating and or flashing

I'm not ready to fit these yet but I like to plan what's needed during the build.
