Hi Bob,the colours you mentioned were used on the RAF tenders ? . Either pale blue or mid blue hull/superstructre , light grey decking & white roof would make a good colour combination with the usual rust red up to the waterline . Most full size boats have a white cabin roof - you could alternatively use light grey for the hull with a white superstructure - that would also suit a working launch - you would need to decide what colour the deck should be. Also seen a Pilot Boat version - however can only find the black & white photo.

Or of course you could could check online for customs launches etc from other countries  - some are quite colourful.............

Thanks for the colour suggestions redpmg - much appreciated!

The pale blue hull and cabin sounds cheerful - and I have not seen one that colour - so maybe……

The ply deck skins don’t look too bad, slightly stained, but overall better than the other wood that was in the kit.

I made sure of a good  tight fit around the lift-off wheelhouse and once the brass nails are removed, and the surplus skin edges are sanded back, it should look OK.

The rubbing strips and stringers should finish the hull off nicely and will be fitted next.

Another bit of advice Zooma:

Don't rely on the tight fit of the superstructure to keep it on in the event of a crash or even violent movement. Some sort of mechanical security is also very advisable too. At its simplest it could just be a couple of horizontal unobtrusive metal pins that go through the bottom of the cabin sides and into the coaming around the deck aperture. They can be easily pulled out when removing the cabin.

All my models have some sort of mechanical fixture of this type as I have all too often seen the top come off a model, often with tragic consequences! The push fit might seem tight but if the hull flexes on impact with something it can easily 'spring off' the superstructure. The photos below show a tug at Wicksteed where the waves were enough to dislodge the superstructure. It sank!
