Stuart high speed enclosed marine engines

From left to right. Piston valve.  There was a slide valve version of the Sun, yet to be acquired. I believe these were used mainly in hydoplane boats ?

The Sirius, in a slightly different external steam supply arrangement  was used in the ALCO war time radio set, driving a dynamo to charge the battery

That’s a nice collection of engines, will you be running them on steam?

Hello !
Beautifull set of engine. Does anyone can tell us more about those types of engines through the time.
If I remember, the first ones were basic but similar.
I am also looking for the sliding sleeve one. ok2
Regards.

DBS88 - yes, will be running on steam and currently hae a 5 inch horizontal boiler, Martin Evans design,  under construction.

KBIO  -  MTB Engines | Stuart Turner Steam   just put in your search box for the early types.
There is also a two part series by Ray Nightingale, with  much more detail. part 1 is the earlier MTB types and part 2 covers the later types as per the photo.  Just google the title below.

Good morning !
Thank you for the link Trelawney! I can see that we have the same point of interest . :-))
Below is part of my collection, which I intend to expend as much as I can.
For your information and for my benefit, I started a kind of catalogue of what has been done in miniature steam through the world and especially in UK , and I would be more thtn happy to collect any information that can make it richer et more complete.

No  need to speak or read French . All language are welcome but you need to register to see the photos. That would be a great help if anyone with good infos participates.
Thanks for your help !
Have a warm day ! O0

The Sun Engine was derived from the earlier MTB Engine series. Here is a photo of a MTB 180 from about 1910, it was recently restored to running order with the help and assistance of fellow Mayhemers, there is a thread on this forum Stuart MTB 1B Questions which shows the refurbishment. Here is a link to the MTB 180 running fast on steam https://youtu.be/abuFc46Ce2o

Here is a photo of the Stuart MTB 1A featherwieght engine from the early 1920's, its made from aluminium with hardened brass cylinders so was not used with superheated steam. This ones still awaiting cleaning and restoration but runs just fine on both air and steam, here is a link to a video of it running https://youtu.be/kFAMFzkMNnw

Here is a photo of a pair of Stuart Sun Engines, production of this engine ceased more than 30 years ago. There are photos and video of the engines being stripped, put back together and run on steam on another thread titled Torpedo Boat Destroyer HMS Daring Stuart Sun Engines. Here is a link to the engines running on steam https://youtu.be/9iReAIsxd2A
