HMS Queen Elizabeth arrived at Japan.!
« on: September 07, 2021, 02:48:57 pm »

Hi all;
The largest warship ever built by Royal navy,HMS Queen Elizabeth arrived at Japan on Sep 4th.
She has come into the port of US Navy Yokosuka base in Japan and come alongside the pier as seen below.
She looks sooo Large when looked down with a bird's eye view, especially its flight deck.. ok2 O0 :o

"The aircraft carrier" anchored in the third pic is our Navy's largest warship built after the WW2 and much smaller
than HMS Queen Elizabeth, about a half in displacement tonnage. :embarrassed:
4th-6th pics are my largest RC powered warship model,HMS Fencer 1/96, built in the past 70 years. {-) %% O0 ;)

I do not know who the carrier is behind the Q E, but does make the Q.E. look like a LEGO built model.!

It is the JS Kaga a Japanese helicopter/aircraft carrier about the same size as the Invincible class.

I think she perhaps must be Izumo, as Yokosuka naval base in the pics is the mother port of Izumo.
Izumo is a name ship of her class of 2 carriers, so Kaga is the second.
Izumo class is 248m long and 26000t full loaded displacement,a little bit larger than HMS invincible, especially their
overall lengths 248m against 210m.
Izumo is comparatively similar to Italian aircraft carrier Cavour in her full load displacement, while about over 10m longer.

Izumo class carriers are supposed to be conventional carriers for fixed wing fighters in a few years and under construction
for that. The onboard fighters are, of course,F-35Bs.

HMS Queen Elizabeth strike force is performing energetically joint exercises with some navies in the Pacific, south of Japan.
1;With the US navy and Japan navy(precisely, Japan maritime self defence force, in short JMSDF)
2;With our navy. Izumo and Hyuga, what we call helicopter-carriers,formally "escort destroyer with helicopters". {-) %% ;D :o

HMS Queen Elizabeth is setting sail for drills with some navies in the waters around Okinawa.
1;she is leaving US navy port in Yokosuka seen off by our navy flat-top destroyer Ise off Yokosuka.
2;Very powerful scene with 3 ships under drill. In the front is HMS Kent and JS Ise in the back. O0 %)
Photos;Royal navy
HMS Queen Elizabeth CSG is reportedly scheduled to stay in the southern waters of Japan as far as Christmas for her first
deployment.

If you knocked the two blocks of flats off it and added three vertical sticks, the side elevation looks like the Cutty Sark.  O0  Wonder what Gritty Thumbnail would think of that?
