derekwarner:
Grease lubrication is a good idea Russell, not necessarily for the normal requirement, however running a teflon/metal seal and relying on the water a the lubricant medium is fraught with danger in inadvertently running the unit for a prolonged test or whatever but DRY
I have seen a full scale teflon/metal water seal with a melted element, but this was not discovered >>:-( until the seal was subjected to immersion, & hence leaked profusely <*<

[edit] Russell ...will you be using a speed controller on the motor?......during your tests it will be interesting to see the force created by the impeller blades at different voltages.......the very short suction tube length [on either side] will help in minimising cavitation.....

A little more progress on the wheelhouse roof and exhausts..
