Can anyone point me towards a supplier of 1mm od tube. Model slipway used to include it in some kits to represent hydraulic hose on cranes and fishing boat power blocks.
I only need 60cm and would be delighted if anyone has any suggestions

For hydraulic hoses could you use black insulation from electrical cable? Leave the copper inside if you want to be able to shape it, or pull it out for weight saving and it will be more flexible. Or if it was pipework you had in mind could you use the solid copper cores from twin+earth cable?


If you need actual tiny functioning pipes then I know that macc models do some tiny diameter copper tube, not quite 1mm but not far off if I remember.

If you have a local angling shop the carp specialists use a lot of silicon tube, comes in different sizes, example below

1.05 mm is the diameter of 10/0.1mm swg cable, of which I have some.

Unless you actually need it hollow you could get some telephone extension cable and strip the outer covering off and you have multiple very thin insulates wires. As an alternative you can purchase various thicknesses of copper wire from craft shops.

Have you any mates in the medical/dental world, I used to use hypodermic needles for that sort of task and you can get them in various gauges, from very fine to the canulas (BIG) and bigger again for the Zoladex, thats about 2mm. It Hurts when that goes in. nemesis

Go onto FleBay and bring up Fishing tackle
I needed similar last year and got same from fishing -fly making kit
Cheap and you can get small lengths
