Natural wood finishes and below waterline paints
« on: September 19, 2021, 04:54:04 am »

I have dismantled and am in the rebuild phase of an old pond yacht (87cm LOA, 24cm beam).  Am fitting new mast, boom and fittings and planning to use a coloured finish below waterline and keep natural wood above plimsoll line. What wood sealants and paints are recommended? (Photo taken before rebuild).    Cheers

Whilst this may detract from its originality you can use fiberglass tissue (thinnest you can get) and several coats of resin as when dry is completely transparent and virtually invisible. It also guarantees a waterproof hull.
