Thank you Ned.
The next three days should deliver the parts to complete the pump.
The engine is practically there, just need the head tin and fuel pipe before adding petrol.

Cheers Mark
I’ve just bought another MPV
So the wife now has my auto Berlingo that is much better for her since she broke her foot and hurt her knee.
I collect on Thursday a Peugeot Horizon auto with winch and wheelchair ramp, perfect for heavy boats and stationary engines  :-))  still has five seats too.
Also joining NVTEC I think it’s called this Thursday(west York’s branch) £18 a year with 2 million liability cover.
Might be at a few shows this year

Yes it’s same as my Berlingo Phil
The Peugeot Partner is the base vehicle modified by allied mobility in Glasgow
They buy in bulk and perform major surgery taking the floor out diverting things and replacing with a lower floor ramp and hoist. It then becomes a Peugeot horizon WAV

Today it’s the MKlll Peugeot

Some more progress finally. Both ends of the stuffing gland were ovalised so I drilled them out 13mm and fitted brass sleeves. I'm waiting for another sleeve to bring it back to a 7/16 hole.

The 7/8BSP locknut arrived after weeks of waiting. This is a modification I've done to make the stuffing gland independently fixed and sealed with its own gasket. The wet end can then be removed without disturbing it.

The piston rod was bent and badly worn so I thought better to go the extra mile and make a new one.
The 11mm bar was a bit tight for the 7/16 Whitworth die.

So for the long thread I turned it down to 10.5mm

1.75" stroke

Final assembly and gland packing will be done when the extra sleeves are fitted.

Interesting fact. The first engine in the opening post has just tonight been accurately dated. It was sold to a customer in Banff 11-2-1952. The same month as George V1 expired and Elizabeth II came to the throne

These are pipe reinforcement ferrules and they go up or down in 1mm sizes.
I drilled out the ovalised holes to 13mm and initially used 13mm ferrules to bring the ID down to 12mm. Having made a new rod that is straight and true enabled me to reduce the tolerance by adding a 12mm ferrule making the ID 11mm

Perfect

My solution to priming the water pump is a revised suction pipe.
I've employed a low resistance non return valve for the pick up and changed the 90 elbow for a Tee with a vertical stub and a loose stop end. The negative pressure in use should leave the stopper in place.

My last purchase of engines came with a very rusty dirty crank handle. I got a lot of satisfaction out of refurbishing it to match engine no.1 with Emerald green.

My pump is now easy to prime with a jug of water in the demountable pipe stop end. The non return valve at the foot of the pipe then keeps the water contained.

I could cash in two boats for an engine project like that. I can see how this has taken your interest.
You make tidy work of it all.
Very interesting tangent.
