The colour on Dockyard operated TID's was Buff upperworks- inside of bulwarks Buff- Deck was green- anchor windlass, mooring Bollards and towhook black. Air pipes and vents buff. The colour stripe along top of the bulwark, was introduced when the Port Auxiliary Service came into being about 1965, white for Devonport, Gold for Portsmouth and Azure blue for Chatham, Funnel markings was Azure Blue band with a thin white band top and bottom for C.D tugs and then P. A. S. . RMAS from 1972/74 was a white band around the vessel at deck level no funnel band and same colours as before, all portholes- stanchions-davits white. Often on the TID's the funnel fiddly deck was painted black as was the aft accommodation / engine room casing. The Towing horses were always painted black. TID's attached to Armament Depots were painted the same except they had the red funnel band with top and bottom thin white lines and red stripe top of bulwark. But the TIDS attached to the Army at Marchwood had a grey stripe round top off bulwark.
