Hi All,
Just completed constructing a half hull model, detailed, for my parents 70th anniversary coming up, still a surprise.
They hired Spearwort from Alf Turners yard in horning back in 1952, shortly after dad went off to serve with the far east fleet on a destroyer for 18 months away eek.
I managed to accurately construct the model from old lines plans i have stored all things Broads craft, together with photos of my parents onboard the yacht.
I wanted to give them something very special, and so even down to the scale tiny 1950s broads map laying in the cockpit i thought was needed as their memories last on.
The red patch you see on the mainsail, is precisely that, mum and dad gained a tear in the sail from a close haul past the riverbank trees overhanging, and Alf Turners yard patched the repair with all they had in the sailoft to keep them going, a tan awning canvas patch. you can see the same on the lower left alluminium plate on the mainsail on the real yacht with mum in the cockpit.
Be interested of any thoughts, guys and girls.
Cheers
Paul
