I am using 6mm marine ply for the hull and liteply for the superstructure - look through the springer thread for ideas.

I used the same ply, cut into strips 25mm wide, edges chamfered a little, glued in place and sanded down.

Hi guys.......nearly finished mine......hull sides are made from12mm ply ..bow and stern from 2" x 1" pine bottom of hull is from 2mm ply laid on in one piece and held round the curves with LOTS of clamps.....then strengthen the whole thing by adding glass cloth and resin to the inside....heavy but plays football like vinnie jones.. Hi Azz126

I have attached photos of two of my springers, Chingdevil & Lady Linda with some photos of the workings of Lady Linda hope they are usefull. They both have 8mm marine ply sides and deck with Ching having a liteply bottom and Linda having a normal ply bottom. Both are now fitted with 385 motors, I have tried a 540 in Ching, way too powerfull. If you want any more info just ask. They both will be at the International Model Boat Exhibition 9, 10, 11 November.

Ching floated at the Mayhem weekend, since then I have altered the front and fitted a new rudder. Lady Linda still has a dry bottom. Hope to get the test tank out, possibly this weekend if not will have to wait a week as I am off to Norwich for a course next week.

Why does work spoil the fun ??? ???

I will definitely get some pictures from the show

I`ll re-phrase that . Do you intend to add buoyancy foam ?  Looks like she could hold a lot of liquid..er,  :o I`ll re-phrase that too maybe...!

Sorry Arrow, I looked at your reply but obviously did not read it :o :o

I had no problems with Ching on its last outing. The superstructure is quite tight and I have had water up to about 25mm across the front of the deck and nice and dry inside. there is a 25mm coaming inside the superstructure just like Lady Linda. The rising damp will only be a problem at full speed, so lightly on the throttle. I have also moved the batteries a little bit further back to try and lift the front, like yours

Do you have foam in any of your springers? I have seen your video so know it can be a bit rough where you sail.

Good a dry boat is a good boat in my book. alas I`ve had the misfortune to fill the whole boat with water, only the foam in the front and back compartments saved it from going down.  About 1/3 foam will keep a Springer from going down. I just copied Toesupwa`s from a picture he posted. I`m afraid my habit of WOT(wide open throttle) reflects my aeromodelling experience . Not always rough on the lochs BTW but 65mph forecast for saturday so back to planning another infestation.

Great Picture, WOT as you know is not good on a springer.

Arrow
With swell like that it does not matter what speed the springer is going at, there is a good chance of some rising damp
