Well thanks to you lot, I have decided to have a go, I bought a workmate earlier and have cut the two sides, I realise now I should have cut the two together, never mind next one time.  ;D {-)

I notice Martin posted the plans at the start of this thread. Another thread recently questioned rudder size. Since these questions come up every couple of weeks wouldn't it be possible to have a Thread titled Plans and Rules with a single post on it with the info then locked and fixed at the top of the section. I did think I had seen this before but don't see it now.
This would also be straightforward for other websites to link to with advantage of publicity for Mayhem.

Plans: http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/Common/Plans.doc

Right, I think these are the agred rules:

18" x 8" inch hull size and floor shape as per plan.
Single Motor up to 540 size ( gearing etc. allowed ) eg. 540/550 / Speed 600. ANY gear / belt / magnetic drive you like!
Power - Up to 7.2 volts
SINGLE RUDDER BLADE TYPE up 4" Sq.
Must have a superstructure of some sort.

You can fit steam if you wish,  jet turbines also allowed no IC or Diesel engines or Pulse Jets!

So we have "English Rules" then ? Why not stick to the original concept ?

I know it's expensive but build one the way you want and another to compete, I may do so at a later date providing others in the club build some.

Andy. :)

Where is the info giving sizes etc for the "Knees" ?  The sticky-out football playing bits??

Hi Banjo
The knees are the uprights at the front of the springer, the sticky out bits for football come from B&Q they are doorstops. I have attached a basic diagram of a knee. You can work from this, to be correct a standard springer should have its knees set at 7inch centres.

I extend the knees on my Springers down in to the bottom of the hull.. makes them a HELL of a lot surdier than just 'sticking them on' to the bow / deck.

   Hi Springer builders
I used a product called bendy MDF available from the usual DIY sheds for the base of my springer.
It did the job but it is fairly heavy,so some weight saving on other materials used.
Saturday was great pity about to-day.
