Nearly there…
I have just been to Avicraft Models in Bromley, he has a very large stock of balsa (I know how hard it is to come by these days, none in France) so if any one would like any (at cost) I can bring it to Mayhem
Please PM me by 10 am tomorrow as I will be leaving for Wickstead just after that.

Hi All

I'm not a member of any club or anything, just wanted to confirm if it was ok to just turn up with a boat or two and join in sailing sometime over the weekend?

I've seen the earlier post by Klunk, but as a newbie to any kind of group sailing event are there any other things I should be aware of i.e. etiquette or do's & don'ts?

Don’t……….forget to say hello and introduce yourself,

It is a great place to meet fellow boaters and make new friends

And Do be prepared for a weekend of…..well……Mayhem

Time, 6.45am.
45 minutes and I will starting my journey to Mayhem Weekend. Been far too long. Looking forward to seeing the Scottish Contingent, Phil and Steph, new peeps and if course Martin and Family, plus all the regulars that I have not seen for 2 years! There is a bottle of mead, port and a few fruit ciders for Saturday night.
Hoping to see Bob K, but his absence has been noted!!

Just having last night’s curry for breakfast, quick trip to the model shop and then heading up.
On board ( apart from a lot of boats) I bottle of calvados, 1 bottle of Ricard and French beer ( not pish)
So should be an interesting Saturday night

Currently playing van jenga at the moment loading Dad’s van with gazebos, BBQ, tables, trolleys, and boats whilst my van is being loaded with boats, my camping stuff, and anything else we can think of! I’m sure we fitted this all in one van once!

List of models I’m bringing for sale and collection only from Mayhem weekend:

Club 500 in yellow and black (hull and superstructure only)
1/200 scale QE2 hull in GRP
A very large scale model of a Fairey Swordsman (I think it’s a Swordsman) edit: it’s a Huntsman 31 it’s big though! Correction again- it’s a MFA Fantome!
A George Turner semi scale Bluebird racer
Touchwood Bluebird K3 1/12 scale kit
Model Slipway Sentinel kit (complete fittings pack, etched brass, plasticard sheets, GRP hull, motors)
Robbe PT-15 kit (started by me when I didn’t know what I was doing!)
36 inch kit of a Perkasa (GRP hull with wooden fittings)
A German minesweeper Wiesel I think (scratchbuilt needs a far bit of work)
And whatever else I can find/fit in!

Managed to find everything… I hope, will be there from 9:30 tomorrow morning with all the equipment.
Phil- we’ve got your gas canister
Klunk- the BBQ is clean and loaded up for use
We have 15 outdoor tables being loaned to us by the park, some are reserved for the Scottish lads and for The French Party (Phil’s extended family!).
Looking forward to seeing you all again. Don’t take the mick out of my wheels. She is a work in progress which if it’s anything like my model boats will take years

For those coming for the day only be sure to pay before you leave. Wicksteed Park car parking is now done by a private company. If you do not pay before you leave you will get a £60-£80 fine.

So please if your only coming for the day, make sure you use the ticket machine on leaving. If your camping I believe the car parking is including.

I love local to wicksteed and quite a few still get caught out by the car parking system.

Hi chaps

Going for my first time tomorrow, Saturday. Going to give one of my motorbikes a run (is there a car-parking area for them or maybe in the camping/caravanning area?) so won't be bringing a boat! Or indeed buying one!
