As MrsJ and I were visiting relatives in Titchmarsh (7 miles away) I managed to slip away for the morning while they did flower arranging. had a delightful time looking at the boats on view and managed to get a couple of queries answered. I'm not a club member but like to dabble, and have been inspired to get on with some of my 'one day' projects. Now I just need to learn all about radio control!. I don't know why I bothered with my camera, everyone else has produced some far better pics. Do we have next years dates? MrsJ is talking about May in the Lake District and I need to get in first.
Thanks for a great morning.

Really enjoyed my first visit to Wicksteed yesterday, spent a few hours on the lake with the Riva, and met a fair few friendly folks..!  Looking forward to next year already.

Well home and dry and hungry and knackered!

.... how do you know a 'Mayhem at Wicksteed' is over?!

Face & hands tired from smiling and hand shaking,
car full of grass and slight whiff of Goose poop,
boot full, back seat full, bags full ... of just Stuff,
home seems a LONG drive away,
too tired to think about dinner, takeaway it is then,
 unloading the car .......
huge pile of stuff in middle of living room,
 lots of happy memories!

 ..... and

And a Great Riva Aquarama it is too!
Brushless but so quiet you'd never guess!

Just got home, totally shattered!
First, a massive thanks to Wicksteed club members for all the tidying and hosting. WICKSTEED committee for running and organising.
To steamboat Phil, the Scottish Contingent, the Newbies and all the peeps that turned up and sailed, yakked and generally made MAYHEM!
ALSO, to my crew from Luton, for generally helping me out, making my life a little easier, and looking after me (suplying tea and breakfast!)

Hi everyone

Just about recovered after a power nap!
What a weekend! Had so much fun catching up with everyone and meeting new friends.
The weather behaved itself (although one point it did raise a hand and say I’m still watching you! %% )
Some fantastic models on display and some brilliant demos by Andy, Poppy, Richard, Phil, and Keith.
Great to see some new faces this year and of putting a face to the name on the forum. I’d like to thank Martin, Ruth and Gina for the excellent tea, coffee, and lovely bacon rolls. Big thanks to all that helped set up and run the weekend- Klunk, Steamboat Phil, Andy N, just to name a few. Great to see the Scottish lads make a return this year and yes we had some fun trying the  ‘polinka’ on Saturday night!
I’d like to thank our three traders this year who displayed their latest wares- many thanks to Deans Marine, Drydock 3D, and Palaform. Great to see your support.
I’d like to say a big thank you to all clubs and individuals who exhibited over the weekend-
Luton MBC
Stevenage MBC
PAMBC
N&DMBC
Coventry MBC
Blackheath MBC
King Lear MBC
Welwyn MBC
Model Hovercraft Association
The Scottish Lads
Geoff Dixon
Ballastankian
RNLI team (Martin and Sue)
JohnG
James (Suffolk1928)
TonyH
Are just a few I can remember off top of my head, some many more who showed their excellent models to us all.
I’d like to say a special thanks to Rob and Dave who helped me after my little incident on Saturday which will probably earn me a few extra nicknames but I’m most grateful for your assistance. I am walking better now :-))
And finally I want to thank my club for all the work put in putting up gazebos, signs, and putting up with my stupidity and idiocy!
On behalf of WPMBC, the Mayhem committee and myself, thank you all :-)) :-)

It was (as can only be expected from previous experience) a fab weekend! Model boaters are a friendly lot but the Wicksteed folk are finest specimens, so welcoming and friendly and knowledgeable. I found out that a dear friend of mine had died during Sunday morning which saddened me but being amongst you lovely people kept my heart warm all the way home until I had to face the info and his family etc.

If you want a weekend tonic then I recommend the Mayhem at Wicksteed show. It enthuses you to get the tools back out, it is a fun time and it's a good excuse to get some nice grub down your cakehole!

Talking of which, the amount of cake made available from the kitchens of Ruth and Gina as well as others was amazing along with their stalwart efforts with the urn and tea bags!

I will be at next year's show with working complete models!

P.S. I must note that it is with sadness to have heard that Klunk's brown Waders also perspired. After years of attack from mice's, he could not keep them water tight anymore. RIP Brown waders.

Data Protection Act 2018 revised 2021 means we would have to get a waiver from all named persons.

I would have thought it would be down to the individuals, in published photos, to put their names (or forum names) up should they wish to do so.

ie that's me on the left of the group on (such and such photo).

Vis email from Wicksteed mbc ....

Mayhem was a success with more participants and trade stands than before. A huge thanks to the members who helped in erecting the tents, and an even bigger vote of thanks to those who stayed behind to help packing up. The Lake team get extra thanks for removing masses of Goose poo from the paths. Barbara Crisp and Sheila Kingdon for cakes, sausage rolls and coffee.

Best Wishes
 Bill TK - Sec.WPMBC

There was quite a bit of culinary delights being offered around the lake this year,
..... next year, there is definitely going to be a cake / food competition of some sort!

( I challenge anyone to beat steaming hot  bacon rolls on a chilly Sunday morning! )   {-)
