My next project (in the garden for the summer)
« on: December 01, 2021, 08:42:23 pm »

Hi all something to make the hot tub warmer in the winter.

These barers won't be seen and are supposed to be treated but I have given them a coat of preservative for extra longevity.

Stained the boards which will be up against the fence and started painting the underneath of the floorboards and painted the window frame.

This is as far as I got before rain stopped play, looking forward to tomorrow.
There was a bit of swearing involved doing the door frame, I was holding 2 bits together and screwing at the same time (with a cordless screwdriver) and I mast have had so of the skin of my finger in-between the 2 bits of wood and when they pulled together they squashed that skin (that was very painful.

are the ends of the treated timbers being coated later - no point in doing the sides if the ends rot,

and here is the sky/air hooks

More done to the hot tub cabin.
Those dors took 3 hrs to fits they didnt bind or catch anywhere (I'm sure when the weight of the glass is in them I will have to re adjust again) loads more to do yet but the bulk of it is done now.

Is your timber not tanalised?

I have used various treatments over the years on different buildings and wont use anything but Barretines now, others seem to be just wood stains..

So our boss kindly gave us Christmas eve off (love where I work) so I glazed the summer house and stained it with sadolin unfortunately swmbo didn't like the colour, fortunately I agree, so we bought some cornflower stain and this is the first coat (which I must admit I like much better, goes with the cream really well)

OK 2 more coats of stain (one more I think would do it)

Got the inside stained, got the electrics in.

And importantly somewhere to hang the dressing gowns

Our friend is coming round tomorrow (he owns a flooring business)
To put some 1/4 inch ply on the floor and half way up the wall then cover it with vinyl.

Nice! Perfect place for a test tank.

Don't want to be a stick in the mud but if the hot-tub is going inside, I hope you have changed the light fitting. Standard pendant not good with all that moisture in there. Not good for the wood either  {:-{
