Looking for advice please.
My 60 year old cheap needle files need a lot to be desired. Looking on Amazon there are 101 different sets all with apparently amazing reviews but I would rather go by the recommendations of model makers who use them.

Permagrit are excellent but expensive. For something like that I wouldn't buy from Amazon, better to use a specialist model engineering supplier like Chronos.

Hi - I use Vallorbe needle files. They are Swiss made and probably the best you can buy. They are not cheap but last a very long time. I’ve had mine for 6 years and they are still like new.

Thank you all. It sounds as if, as usual, it pays to spend a bit more to get quality tools that will do a good job.

They also make a really nice handle for their needle files which swaps easily for the next one you want to use.  It uses a sliding collet system and sits nicely in your hand for filing.  I use it and it makes the not so nice job of filing a whole lot better.
