1/16 CONTINENTAL UNPOWERED BARGE, CANAL AND OTHER BITS.
« on: December 15, 2021, 11:31:08 pm »

I thought I had posted this...obviously not {-)

This model is based on a early, unpowered, coastal barge. The sort that was hauled up canals, unloaded and then hauled back to a staging area and taken by tugs to a port for reloading etc.

She is highsided, as she is going in open water, she has a generator engine on board for powering the winch/hoist and running lights.

She is made from all plasticard, with lollipop and coffee stirrer deck, everything is scratch made or bits I found in the junk box.

She is to go on the canal pieces I made for our RC, military vehicle 'village'. I also lacquered the canal base to make more reflective. I also finished the warehouse building at the end, all painted and weathered. Made all the accessories for the barge and dockside, figures bought, adapted and repainted. Got too horses and repainted and made covers etc. Made water trough, haypile and dungpile  :D

I really like that Eddie, a lot of thought gone to it, the plants seem to like the dung heap  %%

:} Yep, a rather over engineered water trough. Glad you like the setting Martin.

Ta mucho Joe, chuffed you like it, with the other buildings and accessories we have a nice village. I always hated the canal sections as it seemed so empty, hence the barge etc, just adds another bit to the whole scene.

And yes, those plants are doing very well  {-)

Thanks mate, really appreciate the comment. The canal area just looked, well, static, there was nothing going on to draw your eye. It was something I always wanted to address and I am glad it worked.
