Build number 11 of the year - not a boat!
« on: December 18, 2021, 12:15:40 am »

Built this a couple of months back and realised that I never put any photos on here, so RC model build number 11 of this year is Shrapnel, an antweight combat robot.

Rules for Antweights are that they must fit in a 4" cube and not weigh more than 150g. This makes getting everything in there quite a fiddle, with weight a consideration for every component - including the wiring. The body is 3d printed ABS and laser cut 3mm Acetal, power comes from two N20 micro motors with a BBB dual esc and 240mah 7.4v lipo, radio is a 4g Futaba rx and the 3mm Hardox steel spinner bar is spun by a 2204 brushless race quad motor, rotating at close to 20,000rpm. Makes a bit of a mess of anything it comes into contact with %)

All up it came out at precisely 150g. Haven't taken it to an event yet but shall be in the new year. Also need to find someone who will print me a new body in luminescent green...

Wow! That looks like a mean machine Andy - the overall shape suggests it will be a difficult thing to 'flip over' like the ones in robot wars. Nice work and hope it does well for you in any competitions.  :-))
