That book on Norwegian inshore craft published by Conway (On the back of a magazine seen in reply 68) is now worth a couple hundred pounds! Obviously it is on a very specific subject.  ;)

Remember having one of these 'Glasgow' paddle tugs, originally powered by Wilesco steam plant, later changed to electric drive. Mine had the problem of water getting on the deck and leaking in through the paddle shaft bearings as described in the article.

Nevertheless this was a lovely model which I now regret selling.

Have you got the Model Maker with the Ron Warring review of the Bassett-lowke 1466 Marine electric motor featured?
I have 2 and one does not work as well as the other and am thinking of complaining.
By the way this motor is also made in Australia for O gauge locomotives but at around £200 a time.

Hi Circlip I would like to print it out from a scan if possible.  I really do have 2 Marines with one better than the other!  I think it maybe brush pressure on the tardy one.
I printed out the motor summary and that came out well.
Kind regards
Roy

Those sound very interesting!  Do you have a full set of test reports for the Taycols?

i am going to do an update of the site, since I now have built a successful circuit for enabling reverse without the voltage loss associated with using a rectifier. I suspect there won't be many people interested, but I might as well publish it - and adding a set of test reports would also be useful...

I also would be interested, since I too have a couple of B-L Marines.

As well as those, I have something I believe to be a bit of a rarity - a Taycol Marine. These are the precursors of the Supermarine, and have a huge drum-type commutator instead of the later disk one. I do not think there are many around...

Sorry to have done so little updating over the past few years - there I'd just not enough time in the day for everything. I have three EeZebilts at various stages to finish and publish, as well as a day job to hold down which gets more tiring as one gets older.. .  But I hope to put it out next week. How are you with Veroboard?
