Help needed/ servo operation
« on: January 22, 2022, 08:11:07 pm »

Not sure if I titled this thread correctly, anyhow, I am in the process of stripping the Chinese circuit board out of an excavator and installing new, I have stripped down to reveal the servos, can anyone tell me how I connnect the servo in the picture to my own receiver, battery pack as such?

It looks to me like they are not standard servos with positional feedback that you would find in boat. I think that they are probably just motors fitted to a screw mechanism to raise and lower the bucket. The controlling electronics are most likely to be found on the large circuit board. If you wish to use the mechanism, you could link the motor to a small speed controller.

Ah yes thanks for that, that would ring true as there are separate limit switches to stop the motor when bucket is up or down..

To Me they they are not servos. They are linear actuators. Basicly a motor and threaded bar.
See if you can see what voltage they run on. Power one way it will extend. power the other way it will contract. No power it locks were it is.

Thought I was accidentally on the wrong forum for a moment.
It's very interesting, all the same.
Maybe the Moderator can side-shift the thread to "Other hobbies and interests".

Don’t worry yourself to much about where I post, if it’s wrong the mods will soon move.
