In this day and age would it not be beneficial to make the catalogue also available to download ?., could charge a nominal fee £ 1-2 pounds.

But once it was available to download, people would start making it available for free online which would rather cut into sales.... Evrything is available online anyway from Hobbies but you have to work for it!

Ummm, Possibly But taking into account that the catalogue is £ 4.25, being posted for free but postage would still cost £1.53 ( 2nd Class , may be a bit less if they use franked mail. So £ 2.72 after postage, less printing and packaging costs and card charges I can not see that they would make that much anyway really.

Ok not as easy as sharing on line but I would think that most who buy the catalogue would also share it

Yes is online but having a PDF is more useful at times.

Oh well just have to wait until the next batch.

I find the physical catalogue much better than any website or download. There's so much to see that you never  expected so you'd never search for them. There's also the joy if just perusing it, finding materials etc you never knew existed that can cross over from one hobby to another. I believe the catalogue is unique now, and it's a gem.

Hi just re-looked at post#14.  I wonder how the fretsaw worked, absolutely no mess!  Probably an early Peleton one.

Foot treadle , like the old sewing machines

I wonder if the modellers attire was 'de rigueur'

Hi Baldrick, Duhh!  Well who would have thought that?  Further reading of my single line post would reveal I was thinking of the non-appearance of a steady accretion of sawdust.  But then again the reference to Peloton could infer foot power.   %% %%

Hi was out on a day trip on the Will Everard a couple of months ago, on the Thames of course, bit cold, and bangers and mash on board was most welcome.  You get to go under Tower bridge which has to open just for you!  She sails as just plain Will now.

With a bit of full time sailing under my belt I was allowed on the wheel for half an hour, very chatty and friendly crew.  I think there were about 25 passengers on board.  If you want to get on a larger Thames Barge then go for Hydrogen which is a bigger boat.

A few years back my Sister in Law hired the Thames barge Victor for the day to celebrate a notable birthday. We boarded at Ipswich and travelled down to Felixstowe and back. Not much wind so a lot of motoring but fun all the same. They are lovely vessels both in full size and model form.

I see the Hobbies website is now showing the catalogue as totally unavailable and that they will post an update on future supplies as soon as possible. What have I started?  :o

So as sold out and no possibility of just downloading it whilst the catalogue was on sale to distribute it, It would now be a good time to make it available as a PDF and maybe charge a small amount.

Steady , demonstrating too much lateral thinking is risky when the Government is looking around for someone to co-opt into sorting out the BoJo mess.

You can't sell a PDF - the first person to buy one will post it on a forum and there go your sales.

TBH, all the stuff is on the website, so arguably you don't need a catalogue at all.

Yes, it's big on trains, big on planes and big on cars and trucks.
But biggest on boat kits and boating related stuff, with much more than I have time for!
