They forgot the crocs and bull ants.   The worst of all are the quarantine inspectors looking for illegal fruit at the borders.  Our daughter was fined $409 for one forgotten lemon going into South Australia.  >>:-(

Ah that was when you were leaving - it's stuff being brought in - which I totally agree with - sorry but your agriculture etc is more important than the feelings of those who transgress - even by accident, in some cases thats even worse as they dont know whats in their bag ----and they packed it, sorry but thats how I feel.  <*< :police:

All joking aside. Because Australia's ecology is so extremely different to 'The Old World' there have been some catastrophic problems with introduced species in the past. Very good reasons to be strict.

Hi all, I am off to Oz on Sunday.  Lateral flow and PCR tests permitting.  I have my visa and ticket, flexi this time, as I might have to extend my visit if I should catch anything.  Oh dear!

 Last time I did get to go to Tasmania and saw wombats and a wild platypus.  Wombats know you can't touch 'em and just plough on to their destination totally ignoring you. Only seen the other animals in a zoo.

 I like swimming so maybe the odd Great White will be in Sydney Harbour as I expect we shall sail there if permitted, otherwise it is the lovely peace (and free parking) of the Hawkesbury River. National Park

Looking forward to an early summer it's just the 24 hours travel, but a sleeping pill gets rid of 6 hours.
So look out Oz I am on my way.

Hi all. I have just finished filling most of the forms for getting into Australia now.  It is a nightmare!!!!!   My sympathies now go out the Scottish tennis bloke Jock O'vitch.
One requirement was to upload my vaccination info, which I was not able to do.  So I ticked 'No' and this was an acceptable answer!

I don't know who they have doing their forms there but there is definitely an opening for some young lad handy on his phone as the encumbants are useless!!!!!  See the comments like why can't I award Zero stars for comment.

I am going to lay down some where quiet and preferably with the curtains drawn to try and re-gain my will to live.  Oh! it is already dark gosh how time flies when..........  Well that is another afternoon spent on other peoples burocracy.

Hi all it may be dodgy down there but I was thwarted!!!!   Turned back at the check-in.  My son had to send a declaration to the Oz whiz kids who dispense visas that we were indeed related and further more father and son. 
There was a clue in the surname but you can't credit them with too much off-screen ability.  But who am I to judge these things, perhaps knowing who your father is .... No I must not go there, the document has yet to arrive.

Anyway UK family rallied round and I shall be travelling next Sunday unless they think up another way to stop me.
So weather in UK not so bad but will be happier when I arrive at my destination.  We octagenarians are a force to be reckoned with.  I do love ending a sentence with a preposition!
