Returning to the hobby with new determination
« on: February 01, 2022, 07:46:47 pm »

Evening all.
Returning to the hobby after a break while life in general got in the way.
I have a part built Deans Maersk Anglia which I want to finish and finally get on the water.
I also have a 1/96th type 42 which I bought as a project to refurbish and update.
Having not had much involvement with the hobby in the last 15-20 years, I was genuinely surprised at how much has changed. New technology, suppliers, materials and model shops etc. I was also saddened to see quite a few names have disappeared.
I’m planning to finish the Anglia 1st with a few upgrades here and there. I originally built the fore and aft masts with grain of rice bulbs. I think these will be rebuilt with micro LED’s so please expect lots of questions about wiring LED’s, resistors and power supplies etc.
Another upgrade will be the stanchions from the supplied white metal fittings to etched to better represent a flat type stanchion which looks finer.
So my 1st question….. are etched 3 hole stanchions available commercially, approx 11mm high from the deck.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Bill.

Huge thanks to Stan for taking the time to take me through wiring up LED’s. Even to the point of drawing up and sending a schematic diagram. The dark arts of LED’s are looking a lot lighter!
Thanks again Stan, you are an absolute credit to the forum.

Bill.
