Rudder servo
« on: March 17, 2022, 05:30:11 pm »

Had to strip down a servo (DS3225mg) the selling point is that its waterproof. Was wondering why the rudder was not turning the boat, had to use the motors to turn. Used airbrush cleaner to remove the mess around the servo lead solder. Back together with some waterproof grease along the casing joints , its working but for how long.

That’s the one, showerproof would be a more accurate description. 😫 When I need another servo for a boat will look elsewhere .

Wonder why radio gear isn't mounted in boxes anymore? Rubber bellows seems to be the exception rather than the rule now. Do model submariners suffer the same problem?

20 years sailing subs, yachts and scale. Never had a servo fail due to water ingress, even when its been underwater for a few days!. A few stripped servos(now always replace with mg ones now) and one that melted internally!
