Billings Samson
« on: March 27, 2022, 03:18:56 pm »

I have just received my late brother's Billings "Samson".  I've had a look around and realised that it is no longer available.  I believe her to be Danish but other than that know nothing else about her.  Can anyone supply any information as to what she was used for etc.Thank you.

I have a Billings Samson II, which I bought second hand and rebuilt internally. I'll try to attach a photo so you can say whether it is the right model, but I am not usually able to make the photo attachment work.

As far as I know it is general workboat. It is an attractive model and sails well if you are interested in working models. Mine has a pair of 385 electric motors (quite small motors) with speed control and rudder plus working spotlight and navigation lights switched on and off by radio. Unfortunately, the lights aren't really bright enough to seen in daylight, so I am looking forward to a proposed evening session at our club's water sometime.

I have also used my Samson as an icebreaker - not the ideal vessel for such things but I managed to clear enough water for other boats to sail.
