CONSORT REEVES TRIPLE

Good morning !
It has been a long time since I have the castings and drawing of a Consort Reeves engine in my "mystery box" ! It is maybe time to take it out.
Now, I remember that I have seen only one in picture.
Before to give it to my friend able to machine down this engine I need to see it closer and in details all around.
So my question is :
- "Is there someone who can show pics of this engine ?
Maybe someone has a connection with"Model Engineer" 's forum or even better has an exemple on his shelf ?? O0
That's all I have and the drawing is not very detailed and clear ! %%

Here is a photo of the Consort engine made by a friend who sadly passed away last year, the engine has been recently sold so I am unable to provide more information

Here I am back again. Beautiful machine inspired by the 'Isle of Dursey' steam engine of 1884.This triple expansion very particular and aesthetically speaking very different from what we usually see is built by the assembly of two Reeves engines. We do not see much on the market and for good reason; the plans are otherwise unreadable , to say the least , complicated and not clear at all but expensive. They date from the time when ammonia was photocopying!!Note also, the distribution of steam from one cylinder to another which is ''original''. Reeves specifies that this machine is offered to the most advanced machiners. That’s to say! We’re pulling out our hair!Indeed, to build this «CONSORT», REEVES provides the plans of its Sovereign (Tandem Compound vertical) and its MONARCH (Mono cyl)We have the Monarch online with the B.P of the Sovereign and voila !Well not quite and that’s where it gets complicated …For information, the Monarch is a single cylinder - double effect of (3/4’’) x 3/4’’.The drawing of the Sovereign (Compound superimposed) gives the following displacements: (1/2’’ x 7/8’’) x 3/4’’. Distribution by cylindrical drawer on the H.P (1/2') and flat drawer on the B.P (7/8') = Sovereign.Reeves also offers the Luxury SOVEREIGN which is a Double Sovereign Compound Superimposed-  which has the following Sad displacement (1/2’’ x 7/8’’) x 3/4’’) x 2 .And where it gets complicated, the Consort is given for (1/2’’ x 7/8’’ x1’’) x 3/4’'.Note from REEVES: -The CONSORT is a double crank, triple expansion adapted from the REGENT and the SOVEREIGN.The REGENT is an adaptation of the EMPEROR engine.A plan even includes the MONARCH and the EMPEROR.For information, VAP38 who built my double weird pump had proposed to REEVES his plan completely revised and corrected with imperial and metric measurements, 3D view and animation . Graciously , for free , by kindness and to render service. THEY never answer !
Anyway, we are through and this (rare) engine is « magnificent «  .

Hello !
This engine runs pretty well with Steam. I would say that it runs ever better.
When the engine is hot , it can run with 3 b minimum (45 psi) but a triple needs 4 b (60 psi) to "start to breath" properly . 5 b and above being the best.
Now, to be honest, all the tests that we made shows that a triple does not have a big interest in term of power compared to others. The last cylinder having no real effect and is most probably a load for  the two other ....
Above all this one which has the HP & MP on the same piston stem.
The double is definitely  more efficient.
But , this one is nice, it is special & it is very rare. Due to the complexity of the drawing, I guess , we do not see many on the market. Above all with this imperial system which gages in /8th , /16th / , /32ty ....  and in thousandth  of an inch ! I definitely favor the metric system ! O0
The engine has not been machined down VAP38 but by Philippe (said the lobster fisher man  %) )

That's it ! After months of cogitation and headaches to understand how to machine down this damnedengine, after nights of thinking, drawing and swallowing liters of beer with friends! It's finally spinning! Thanks Philippe, Marcel & JPA ! I ain't get no beer left !I must say that I have a little problem to adjust the reverse, but if it turns well in one direction, it must turn in the other! Obvious !A power test with Prony's brake gives me 19w @ 1300RPM. But the Prony brake being at its limit, this machine can produce more power, it has a phenomenal torque for this displacement.The design must be there for something!
 One thing is sure ; on a triple , there will be more efficiency with the steam test ! Let's wait !

Well done, beautiful machine and great result  :-))
I am just surrprized by the speed I think I have read, more than 1 200 RPM, if I am right, it seems too fast to my opinion, especially a reasonable test pressure... To be confirmed.
And thanks to you, I know why I don't build, I don't like beer  ;)
