I was thinking if the prospect of rigging all the derrick's up with all the blocks and tackles, an easier method would fit all the derrick's secured in the stowage chocks. As these vessels would only have the derrecks rigged on a short journey and in port to work cargo. As at sea the wires and blocks would be all inspected any maintenance done and stowed away to conserve them from salt water corrosion.

Have you seen the standard of detailing on Stan's models? They display a severe note of masochism.  O0

The glass fiber work on the scout hull now finished. The next step after Blackpool will be to fix the decks then primer the hull and fill all inperfections a long job I think. Just one more picture showing various balsa parts glued together when dry these will be transferred on to plastic card.

You were talking about prop size, I have a brass plastic colour prop of 40mm and she goes well and handles well, with a 6vt battery.

Just two pictures showing the work so far on the superstructure. The balsa parts have been disposed of and replaced with plastic card.

Its looking good from here, like the idea of plastic for the superstructure, mine is original balsa wood looks good of in the pond but a bit so and so close up. I do not know how much you know about the real vessel, when I researched it to see if I could modify it to something else, i found that she was one of 5 in a sub class of C2 type all owned by the United States line.

Hi all from the boat yard.I am taking a break from building the superstructure it is driveing me crazy. With this mind i have started to build the three main masts using plastic tube and plastic card. Please note the wood dowels fitted inside the tubes this will provide a better fixing for items later in the build. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

Most of the wood parts found in the Scout build have been put in the bin and replaced with plastic card. The items replaced can be seen quite clearly in the video. Manyt of the wood parts in this old kit were in a very poor state and only could be used to make new items from plastic card.

Replacements definitely the way to go Stan. Plasticard is the easiest and quickest option and should give a good result. The alternative might have been balsa faced with 0.4mm ply but that would have meant more work.
