Brush painting an ABS Hull
« on: April 14, 2022, 03:51:38 pm »

Hi All,
I'm nearly ready to paint my Krick WSP47.
Now, I live in a flat so spraying is out of the question.I have been told that brush painting Humbrol Enamel shouldn't be an issue.
Question I have is, can I just brush the colour coat on without primer? (Assuming I've washed/roughened the surface).
And if a primer is needed, can someone recommend one?

When I raced cars with ABS bodies it was:-
  • Scrub the gloss off with a scotchbrite or 800 wet n dry
  • Light coats of car paint, sprayed but tinned car paints are available
  • Rub down between coats with 1500 to key the following coat & also de-nib.

It always pays to use a plastic primer on styrene/abs etc. nemesis
