Transmitter won’t stop bleeping
« on: April 16, 2022, 07:15:17 pm »

Hi All

Looking for some advice. I have a Planet TS2+2 system. I am having problems setting up.

Followed the instruction and everything seems to work. The only problem is the binding sound on the transmitter will not stop. Even though I have full control over rudder and throttle.

I push the binding button on the receiver while I switch on, then switch on the transmitter and push the binding button. The flashing light on the receiver goes out and I release the binding button on the transmitter. Everything works fine except the binding sound on the transmitter keeps going.

The power is coming from an Overlander saddle pack Niamh attached to a Mtroniks viper 15 plug and play esc.

Has anyone else experienced this or is there something I am doing wrong. >:-o

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Low transmitter battery will cause bleeping

Hi knoby

Tried that. Put new set of batteries in, but still the same. I have a second receiver and it acts the same with that. Just ordered a battery box as it’s powered through the Mtroniks at the moment and I want to illuminate that.

Thanks for the reply. It is appreciated.

Is there a throttle safety?
It could be that the transmitter thinks that neutral(50% throttle) may supply power to the propeller, and
is trying to warn that there is the danger of a powered start if turn on the model.

Hi, Alan

Some Txs the bind button acts as the trainer switch if it is pushed after the Tx is turned on  (bind if it is pushed before being turned on)

It might be telling you it is in trainer mode - try pushing again!

Long shot - but does the manual help?

stupid question...  after completing the binding/pairing, have you tried turning off and on the power to both the transmitter and receiver?   are they still bound after power cycling...  is the transmitter still bleeping after power cycling?

Thanks for all the suggestions.

The transmitter and receiver both work fine. Throttle and rudder control both ok and no problems. I can switch bothe receiver and transmitter off. When switched back on, everything works as before. Problem is the binding buzzer will not shut off. I have another receiver and that acts ok.

If it wasn’t for the continuous buzzer there is no problem. It’s driving me up the wall >>:-(

Have you tried turning the auxiliary knob (chan 4) to either end of rotation and flicking the 3 position switch (chan 3) to different positions

Hi Leaky

Yes tried every permeation I can think off. I disconnected the Mtronik esc and used a separate battery pack to eliminate the possibility of the ESC causing the problem.

Again with only the battery pack and the servo connected I went through the binding procedure. Everything works again even with the power turned on and off. So it acts like its bound and works fine. Its just the persistent drone of the binding tone.
Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Here is the manual for those trying to help:

https://d3if9wubzr0anm.cloudfront.net/manuals/PLAT02101-1.pdf

Both dual rate switches must be off when powering on - have you tried that?

I’m a bit bewildered by this. In the manual that Colin posted there is no mention about pressing any bind button,
it states to switch on the Tx first wait for the green light, search mode then switch on the rx for binding?

You use the binding buttons  for binding old or new receivers.

Have I read it right or have I missed something

emphasis mine.   if you have a second receiver that acts "normal" i would say its time to bin the "broken" one and buy another.

 Hi John/Tsenecal

In the manual to re-bind a new or old receiver you have to turn the transmitter off. Power on the receiver holding the pair button. The receiver will start lashing  and then you turn on the transmitter and push the bind button. When the flashing light on the receiver goes out, release the transmitter bind button and the light on the receiver stays solid. At this point all controls should work, which they do. However the green binding light on the transmitter stays flashing and the bind tone continues.

Tsenecal.
When I say the other receiver works. They both work fine and both bind. The problem is that after binding the transmitter bind light keeps flashing and the binding tone continues. I am beginning to think the transmitter has a fault. Trouble is Perkins the distributors will not be interested as I bought it over a year ago. This is the first time I have used it since I purchased it as I bought it to use on a specific boat which I have only just finished. Not sure of anyone who would repair or even look at them.

Thanks for the replies

Hi Colin

Sorry just seen your post.

Yes I have got them both turned off.  Beginning to think the transmitter is the problem here.

Thanks for replying. It is appreciated.

You don't specifically mention it but does the problem still occur if the ESC and the steering servo are not plugged into the RX and there is a separate RX power supply? If so. and if both receivers react the same, then, as you say, the problem would seem to be with the TX by process of elimination.

Despite the delay it would still probably worth contacting Perkins via their sales email to see if they can help.

Hi Colin

Yes I have tried right back to basics. I just connected a receiver battery to the battery socket with nothing else other than the rudder plugged in. Again bind OK but still the binding tone and flashing binding light on the transmitter. Rudder works fine. Switch everything on and off and rudder still working but noise still present. I have written to Perkins, but I wont hold my breath.

Thanks again for the reply.

You seem to have explored all the options then. Really annoying as the Planet has a lot of plus points for model boating use and was recommended by the late Dave Milbourn who khew what he was talking about. Good luck with Perkins.
