As described, an interesting item up for auction in two days time . Would like to know more about it but looking at the Auctioneers estimate I don't think I will be bidding.

IN my opinion over priced, not Bassett Lowke, and the steam plant is definitely early 60's, the reason being if you look at the cylinder head bolts there are only 5, this was a later design by stuarts, all the early plants had 6 (I own a few)
Looks like a hybrid of BL and artistic license
Just my thoughts
But I agree way overpriced  ok2

In fairness, I read the advertisment as the sellers words..." attributed to", however is not suggesting the vessel is "manufactured by"

Steamboatphil concludes by design age is questionable, with the sellers text......."driven by two-cylinder Stuart Turner marine engine"...but possibly a later 60's design, not the 1920's design as inferred

The words "attributed to" also appear to have bought quite a large element of artistic Licence
:o %)

I am however with Baldrick, .......not on my shopping list

Hi all for me it does not look right for BL.  Also the micro rudder tiller adjustmane looks like Straight Running.  Not sure that BL ever did them may have been a commission but....   The prop looks a bit flimsy for a steam engine?
I looked at other lots and their estimates seem rather optimistic.

Missing the vintage keywords "Hand built"'

Also well bandied, 'Stuart Turner' on any steam engine or components and 'to suit Myford Lathe' on tooling.

  The Fleebay curse.

As has been remarked on, it has been carefully worded in the sale catalogue, 'Attributed to Bassett-Lowke, circa 1925', with an estimate of £1500 - £2500.

The auction was held last Tuesday (April 26th), and the hammer price was £2976, (inc. buyer's premium of 24%), so somebody really wanted it.
