Another Boomboat/Dozer boat - 3D printed
« on: May 04, 2022, 09:41:17 pm »

I have just finished my own Dozer boat, printed from a design by Rene76 on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3052022)

The hull printed in 3 parts, each being an overnight print for me. They were then epoxied together into the hull proper. (Pic 1)

While the epoxy was curing I printed the main superstructure parts. (pic 2)

Once cured the hull was prepared the with some wet and dry, then coated in polyester resin, finally, it was coated with a couple of coats of flat black paint. (Pic 3)

The superstructure was elements where painted, assembled and additional fitting printed. Once assembly was complete, a 385 motor was installed with a Viper 10 micro ESC, micro servo and space a 1500mAh 2S lipo.

I'm pretty happy with the result (Pic 4), although I felt it was lacking something, hence the addition of a Captain from my childhood (Pic 5)

Its been in the test tank (kitchen sink) and seems to be watertight and seems to perform pretty well considering it is only 23cm long.

Looking good Carl  :-))
I have just glued the hull of the same build, I used Plastic Magic glue,  it works great on PLA.
Just got some 385's today, can't buy them in DK so had to get them from Aliexpress.
Build tread coming up later today.

Thanks you both, hopefully it will get wet on Sunday and we'll see how she performs.

Looking forward to the build thread.

What a sweet little build! What's not to love here?  :}
What are you using driveshaft wise?

I took an 6mm external propshaft and cut it down. Just popped the bush out of the internal end, cut it down and refitted the bush. Its a 3mm shaft with a 25mm propeller.
