Eurovision
« on: May 15, 2022, 12:07:12 am »

As expected Ukraine won easily with political votes.
Unexpected was the voting for Uk to come second.

Most strange was not a single vote for UK from Australia  <*<
Is their taste so poor that the second place act wasn’t worth even one point in their opinions ?

I don't normally watch it but got hooked tonight.  I turned channel just as UK entry came on as co-incidence so thought to see how we did.  I thought our entry looked most european pleasing for many years.  I was impressed at the French vote to be honest.

I'm also impressed at the AUS song looking and soundig very euro with that completely daft chain mail.  But " I'm not the same" in lyrics -hmm, I'm not sure these were good words to chose in the current climate for an EU based competition.  Maybe an own goal there?

...How did AUS get into it anyway or am I out of touch?

and Fosters, and Bundaberg Rum :}

I’m not sure how we got to be in Eurovision, but I think we have been for a while now. Perhaps it’s Europe tossing the British colonials a few crumbs :o %)

Don't forget the winners host the next contest!  I wonder if they will invite the Russians?

I think it is because it has been broadcast in Aus for over 40 years and in 2015 they were invited to participate and that it is so loved on Australia !!, if they win though it will not take place in Australia the following year so not sure how that works.

Is your Bunderberg Rum as dull as your Bunderberg Ginger Beer ? That definitely gets Nil Poi.

Firstly, it’s Bundaberg, not Bunderberg, secondly, I wouldn’t call Bundaberg ginger beer “dull”, however, people’s tastes differ, but I definitely like it. I’m not a rum connoisseur but, while I’m sure there are better rums, Bundy rum is very popular here. I have a sister in Bundaberg, so I’ve been a regular visitor to the city over the last 50 years. In that time I’ve made several visits to the rum distillery, and the ginger beer factory. Both places have plenty of opportunities to taste the product, and, of course, to buy them.

Maybe the Bundawhatsit  does qualify as a soft drink and to some palatable but it is a total misnomer to call it Ginger Beer . It has no bite or fire at all, the ginger element seems to be totally lacking . Our JS supermarket do an own brand ginger beer and that has a nice fiery kick on the palate which in the UK we expect and find refreshing on a summers day (Other brand decent ginger beers are available)

Now, now Baldrick.....if Napolitian .[sorry Napoleon] or and Lord Nelson were alive today they would love a few Bundies on the rocks  ..............
This is how it is consumed in Northern OZ, and also Melbourne...on the rocks that is, being ice....[not a bunch of jagged stones by the water]

I personally do not partake in the terrible foul smelling made from sugarcane husks fire swilling muck  >>:-(

Does that help numb the pain & embarrassment of some of the songs?

Eurovision - Hundred of Thousands of BBC licence fees wasted (paid to the EBU). A totally unfair amount. Many of the other entrants pay much less.
