The Sterenn of KBIO.
« on: June 04, 2022, 05:51:27 pm »

Hello !
The other day, while I was shopping in my favorite department store, I saw a Caddy  full of marine plywood scraps and pieces!

I asked the man in charge what he was planning to do with all this scrap , and he said that it goes to the bin. I can have it if I want !
Bingo !
I have enough wood to build a few boats. All 's gone in my boot !
I started to wondering what to do when I realize that I have my old Martin.Bayliss steam plant waiting for a boat !
So I took an old BAT drawing out and I am gone to draw , stick and cut the ribs.
The keel taking form on the corner of the bench , I glued a couple of planks around , looking allright and ..... it was gone !!! O0
Three week later , I am here and I am expecting to sail before the end of the month.
But right now, it's time for a good pint !
CHeers !

Old school bin warrior. Proves GRP and Styrene are not the only materials to generate a superb looking model.

Hello !
Thanks for your comments.
This weekend was studious as the storms kept me in my workshop. So I could set the deck. It is not finished yet : need sand peering.!
Have a good day !

Hello !
Here is where I am! Progressing slowly , I should be able to steam up soon ! This one will be an open launch !
(Before, I have to fix my lawn mower and it's going to take some time if my knees and my back allow it !  :embarrassed: )
Have a good evening !

Very nice KBIO O0 ......is this a quick shut off for gas?.......

1. will it be servo controlled?
2. will you insulate the steam line from the boiler to the engine?

[Take care of your back with that stupid lawn mower  <*< ...]

Hello Derek !
Thanks ! ok2
Yes the steam lines will be insulated.
Yes , the shut off gas valve is servo operated. I still have to work on it though. I am not satisfied with the locking.
As well as other details that I need to finalise and care about.....
It will be hot these days and I  shall stay in the shade  !
Keep the beer cool ! O0

Yesterday was the good day !
I moved the boiler back a bit , a couple of inches !
23°C , no wind, no waves the Sterenn got wet finally.
No problem !  Pressure 2.5 b steady . Un bit too fast but this triple M.Bayliss engine is a winner !
Maybe I install a gas regulator to calm down the boiler.
My friends and I made circles in the water for a while , then came the beer time !
 :-)) Great !

And now , What else ?? ok2

Bonjour Yves,
Beautiful and quite fast, almost ready for the Anton trophy  :-))
Which is the size and the type of her propeller ?
Which quantity of water thisboiler contain and what is your autonomy then at about 2 - 2,5 bar = 30/40 PSI ?
And about the gas regulator, you know how fan I am of this accessory, with the safety RC gas valve and... the whistle  ok2

Hello !
Thanks for your comments.
This launch is fast but not as fast as those of our friends in Cabariot. %)
The propeller is a Propshop 4x blades ,60 mm .
I don't know nothing about the autonomy as we sailed for 1/2 hour and get back with some gas & water left . Maybe , we could have sail for 10/15 min more with no problem. My gas tank is small and I am not sure that I could sail for more that 40 min. To be checked.
I am installing an old regulator that has been in my drawer for years. I let you know the result! I have to test it out of the boat before to install it inside . We had enough fire this summer to add one  arsonist steamer!  {-)
Best regards.
