What voltages
« on: October 30, 2007, 02:50:59 pm »

I'd like to know what voltage range an average servo motor needs to operate and the same for the motor from a mobile phone. :embarrassed:

Simple answers please still learning boat electrics. O0

hello my good friend

Normal servo voltages are between 4.8 v  and  6 v

anymore than 6 v Dicky and the chances are you fry chippy and that chippy not edible ....  {-)

The small motors in a mobile phone - I havent a clue - but I would assume it would be between
1.5 v and  9 v.

To play it safe, try it on 1.5 first and if it looks as though the motor is running slow, increase your voltage at 1.5 intervals by adding another battery.

Hope this helps my good chap.

DickyD

if you Google Mobile phone batteries they are all 3.6V -mostly Li-ion but sometimes Nimh.

Don B.

Correction - there are the occasional 4.8v Nimh but very rarely.

Ive been experimenting with an old mobile phone motor for the radar on my lifeboat.

seems to run a bit fast on 4.8v but will run on a single AA cell 1.5v and looks realistic without being too slow, i may even use some servo gears to so i can run it of my Rx pack 4.8v but the gears will make it spin slower which is perfect scale looking.
