HI ALL ive just heard on another forum that humbroll paints are ending is this true as i use them alot does anyone know if this is true ?

No this is not true still on sale in our local model shops also spoken to Hornby about this not going out of production.

We are not in the E U anymore so these rules do not apply I was told on my local model shop. But to clarify the situation i will contact Hornby this morning and feedback information.

Not necessarily the case. A whole lot of EU rules and regulations were carried over to UK law following Brexit pending them being examined and either kept or discarded and I don't think much progress has actually been made on that.

As regards rules and regulations It's not speculation, it's fact!

Plenty of information on other forums, if you Google it, where traders have received an official statement. It's the oil based enamel that's affected but acrylic will continue to be sold.

So to answer the OPs question, Humbrol are continuing to be in business.

Having spoken to Hornby this morning I can now confirm the situation with regards to Humbrol Enamel paints.

The current range of Humbrol enamel paints are out of production but still available in your local model shop until such times they run out.

Hornby are currently working on a new range of enamel paints that meets all guideline requirements and they hope to have this in the supply chain this year acrylic paints are not affected.

Humbrol branded enamel paints. Their statement is as follows: "The CLP (Classification, Labelling & Packaging) Regulation regularly assesses and occasionally reclassifies chemicals. “Meko”, a popular anti-skinning agent, extensively used in the paint industry has been reclassified under CLP. The change in classification resulted in the substance being phased out for supply to the consumer in Europe. The affected paint cannot be sold to the general public after 1st March 2022 under the REACH Regulation.

Customers are advised not to continue to use Humbrol enamels until further notice, and to seek alternative paints."

This CLP stuff must be really dangerous, most of us have been using the paint which includes it for years and years, and look at the harm it's done us.

Yes we have to accept the said paint may contain items that are not good for us, but it has been around for many years and I feel no effects from its use. How many people look at warnings on glues, fillers and other items we use in our hobby on a daily basis that could affect our health. Most D I Y products contain some form of warning. Do we take notice of them I think not so where do we draw the line? Today we have the choice of paints we can use and we all have our personal choice, but we will have been brought up to use Humbrol. I personally will continue to use Humbrol paints but I respect people's choices on the type of paints they use.

I look forward to the new range been introduced this year from Humbrol and will certainly give a try

Well I only use it to paint my model boats I don't drink it, like Stan has said I started using it when i was 10year old now past 68 years not noticed anything yet. really pleased I bought a a tin of every Humbrol colour they did many years ago lots never opened yet but am keeping them.

I converted to Revell years ago and not really looked back since. Not without faults I agree. Only Humbrol tin I buy since pretty much is is No 1 primer. Can't say much more, each to their own. Most of my Humbrol tins were tipped in the local recycling centre years ago!

Revell paints are fine but I have found the colour range a little small. However I have used them in conjunction with Humbrol with no problems. My preferred paint must be Humbrol enamel which I have used it for years with no problems. We all have our personal choice when it comes to paint I think the comment that a certain item should be in the bin in poor taste.

I believe Airfix, Humbrol and their owners have actually bought the Hunter back again and it’s undergoing a repaint before it’s re-reveal.
