Airbrushes
« on: July 12, 2022, 11:52:46 am »

Hello All,

Does anyone have experience with Expo Dual Action airbrushes please? I have done a reasonable amount of painting with the usual spray cans, but am now thinking of buying an airbrush. The range of types, costs, etc. is quite daunting, but these Expo sets seem quite reasonable.

Any thoughts or advice for a beginner to airbrushes please?

Many thanks
Peter

Steer very clear indeed

As a starter, I’d recommend a Harder & Steenbeck Ultra, a Neo for Iwata or a Sparmax Max 3. I’ve had the latter for years and have had a few of the higher end Harder & Steenbeck and Iwata brushes, the build quality on all is excellent.

The expo brushes are cheap Chinese rubbish with different branding. They’re made of poor material and aren’t precise.

The airbrush is also nothing without a decent compressor with a storage tank, a moisture trap and a good regulator.

You can get good results with a Badger Spray jar, used one for years. Fair dos, it is for area but you learn the basics of brushing. If I was wargaming, models etc then out comes the airbrush. nemesis

Yep, they still work for non-detailed stuff....

I've also got the Paasche Airbrush, sort of the big brother of the Badger, but not used it as yet.
Much less fiddling about with paint clogged needles....
