50 Cal Machine gun scale????
« on: January 06, 2008, 10:54:09 am »

Hi All

I have been trying to work out what size a 50 Cal machine gun would be at 1/32 scale. I have tried to work it out but the measurements I get seem to be either to big for my 1/32 scale figures or something I am working out is wrong. Also does anyone have a diagram of one. I know that the machine gun is about 1400mm or so in length.

Thanks Davie, That is roughly what I got but the 1/32 scale crew I have seem smaller than the gun. My crew must be smaller than 1/32 that must be the only explanation.

Hi Richard

My Captain (who for some reason seems to be the tallest) is just on 49mm. If the gun is 43mm and that being 1.4m than my crew would be lucky to reach 4 foot six in the old money.

Cdsc123: I have bought many pieces from NMM and their stuff is great but I think that their guns look a little to complicated for what I already have made on the boat.

1/32 scale human model at 6ft would be 57mm tall , 49mm model means a scale of 1/37nd which is a really weird scale , taking 5ft6 as the "human" 1/1 scale 1/32 scale would work out at 52mm tall so the best guess is that the scale is between 1/34th and 1/37th so probably 1/35th

Hi , if this is of any use to you.....you can purchase 1/35 scale .50 cals and crew from the Military modelling traders, and from a company called Verlinden, all resin and beutifully made, and excellent detail, not the cheapest but you get what you pay for . O0
