A $30,000 Model Tug? Surely not.........
« on: June 13, 2006, 07:56:57 pm »

I found the attached article in a newspaper. Is it really possible to spend $30,000 making a model tug?

Maybe he took a whole year off work to build it, can't think of any other explanation.

All I can say is, typical of newspapers and reporters. He probably said he had $3000 invested in it and they added another zero. I remember something that was written about me as a quote that caused a stir. Problem was I didn't say it the way thay had phrased it and it created a whole new meaning.

There was a fantastic model lifeboat pictured on the forum recently, incredibly detailed and almost indistinguishable from the real thing.  I wouldn't be surprised if that cost something in that region, ?15 000 or so, with all things considered.
