Greetings from the east coast
« on: July 31, 2022, 09:15:35 pm »

East coast of the US that is! I've been interested in model boats for years, specifically tugboats. I had one of the cheap seaport workboats years and years ago that never really worked. Recently I finally took the plunge to get properly into the hobby. My current project is a 1:1 replica of the original Theodore Tugboat model, using as many original parts as possible and built upon a (possibly shortened?) Romarine Neptun. Totally new to most of the things involved, I was in model trains for years but hardly ever built or did anything myself. But I'm excited to get my hands dirty! Really happy to be here as well.

 Welcome aboard JHR  :-)

 "My current project is a 1:1 replica of the original Theodore Tugboat model" ... do you mean 'full size'  or  perfect replica ?  {:-{

Ha! I wish it could be life size. What I mean to say is, I'm making a 1:1 replica of the model they used to film the original television series. About 20 inches long.

Are you going to 'eyeball' it or do you have a set of plans?

No plans sadly, mostly going to be eyeballing. Having some of the original parts like the portholes will help, though. I also have some great reference pictures from a trip to Halifax. The original models are usually out on display, but we arranged to see them while they were out for cleaning.
