Brushless Motor
« on: July 24, 2022, 06:49:17 pm »

Hi All,
I have a Cygnus revenge (fast fishing boat) that I want to put a brushless motor in, boat is  42inches long x 15inch beam, 60mm 4 blade brass  prop.
Running on 12volt . I used to use Fusion Hawk motors & ESC but cant seem to get them any more. I need to get the model up on the plane like the real one.
Any recommendations?
Regards

If it were me, I would phone Component Shop (01248 719353) or use their e-mail contact page to have a chat.  They do a range of motors and ESCs and I am sure would offer sound advice.

What sort of battery are you running? Are you looking to upgrade the battery pack also?

Hi Fastelectrics,
Using 2 12volt Nimh in series, as used for ballast as well.

Not sure if this is the same model as yours but it seems to go well with a 5S lipo pack and 770KV outrunner motor.

Hi Neil,
Yes that's the one, I have just installed a 500KVx 6 900watt overland outrunner and 80amp shark esc.
Going to try it on 3s first, not tested it yet.
What's your view?

I think it is a good idea to start it on 3s and see how it goes. You can then increase the cell count and check the temperature of the pack, ESC and the required duration. There are so many variables that it is incredibly difficult to state that a particular set up will work unless someone else has kitted out an identical boat with the same hardware. Let us know how things progress.
