LED Colours?
« on: October 26, 2022, 04:00:38 am »

Hi guys, im trying to decide what colour LEDS are best, Warm white or Amber?

My model is of a TID tug, so i don't want white, will warm white be best or would amber be better? it will be to light up the deck/wheelhouse/Mast Lamps etc.

cheers!

I would think warm white for the mast, as for the wheel house some would say no lights or you could go for amber
As the TID was a WW2 tug, think what the lighting of the day would be like,

Me I go for the brightest one I can get, this is due to some of the members not being able to see in the dark let alone in daylight.

What will you be doing to light-proof your wheelhouse, so that light does not bleed through the solid superstructure panels?
Or will the wheelhouse lights be external lights?

the wheelhouse is made of GRP and the outside i covered in wood strips, then sand & sealed & then varnished etc so there will be no bleed :)

hi guys, my LEDs have arrived, my lightboards arent complete yet (need spraying etc) but gives an idea, these are the warm white effect using the 3528 LED chip. I've also got some Amber LED's of the same type on order so can compare side by side then decide which to use :)

what id also like to ask, the LEDS came prewired with suitable resistors for my 12v SLA's ..but the wire is very thin which is what i wanted as i will be routing the wire in tight/small spaces etc!

With the wire being so thin, what is best method to connect a small length of thicker piece of wire to the end so i can connect to a power source terminal such as the Action P107 etc?

Cheers
