Magnetic switch for led lights
« on: November 09, 2022, 10:31:37 am »

Hi chaps. I am looking for a small magnetic switch for turning on/off a number of led lights. I would like the switch to be independent of the receiver. All I can find are 6/12volt switch’s. I have seen the small reed switches on eBay, but they don’t give a lot of information. Can anyone help please. Thanks

Hi I have used a reed switch before and a small magnet will activate it.  One of the small neodimium magnets should work OK.Let us know how you get on.
Regards
Roy

Hi Terry1956
I used a reed switch on one of my Sub's that was 6 volt and it worked O.K, the only thing that I found was over time the reed would stick in the on position, due to it be coming magnet.

Hi, this is for a sub. I have a magnetic switch for the main systems. But would like the lights to work independently of the receiver.

Hi Terry1956

Do you wish the lights to come on every time you surface?  if you do how about a floating switch.

As for the floating switch I will try and draw it up some time today, i do not know if there are any on the market.

Thanks Fred. Following on from your input, I have been able to purchase two switches from Amazon and I have just fitted one in place and having a cup of tea before I start with the wiring circuit. Sorry about funeral, never a good time. Thanks again. Michael
