Bring and Buy sale - Haying Island MBC
« on: January 13, 2023, 05:45:23 pm »

Hayling Island Model Boat Club is holding a Bring and Buy sale on Saturday 4th February from 11am to 3pm.  It will be at the Mill Rythe Coastal Village on Hayling Island (home of our club water).  The sale will be indoors and light refreshments are available (card payment only).

We have issued invitations to local clubs but if there is anyone else local (or not so local) who wants to join in, please send me a message and I can provide further details.  If the weather is cooperative, visitors are welcome to bring a boat to sail (or test a potential purchase) on our water.  I guess there may well be a bit of general chat about model boats as well.  We hope to see at least a few unfamiliar faces!

Greg

Looks like there will be an interesting collection of boats for sale on Saturday, along with a fair bit of the ancilliary stuff.  At the moment, the forecast looks good, so we hope to see some sailing happening as well.  If you are thinking of coming along, let me know and I will pass on detailed directions.

Will there be a commission charge for any sales?
Thanks.

No, no charges of any sort.  Just turn up and browse, buy, sell or pass the time of day.

That's great Greg. Nice to know that. Some clubs like to take a slice unfortunately.

Greg,
Is it ok to just turn up with a few boats and bits and bobs?

Well, that was fun!  A splendid turn out of some lovely models for sale and a fair few bits and bobs as well, plus a few "projects"!  We were well catered for by our hosts, Mill Rythe Coastal Village, who as well as providing the room laid on tea, coffee and doughnuts for free (with contributions to local charities).  Thank you Mill Rythe!

I think everyone agreed it was a well worthwhile day, especially those who went away with a lovely model boat (or two), and it was nice to meet members of other local clubs.  We had so much fun we'll be doing it again, probably in the autumn so folk can stock up on their winter projects.  Watch out for news so you don't miss out.

Hi there Greg, sounds like a good day out and very generous of your hosts. Makes me wish I still lived in Southsea!
Unfortunately we're settled back in Northumberland now - bit too far away from Hayling Island  :((
Still, glad to know everything went well for you  :-))

A thoroughly enjoyable time. I even managed to resist the temptation of buying another boat.
Sorry Greg.
