Amazing Humbrol
« on: June 16, 2023, 06:43:41 pm »

I have just opened a tin of Humbrol Dark Grey Gloss No 5 that I must have bought and used around 1988 and it went on a treat.  :-))

I've got quite few tins dating back to the mid 90's which are just as good as the day I bought them. They sat unised for nearly 25 years so took a good bit of stirring but, as you say, went on lovely. The new stuff just isn't the same, it's always a sad day now when an aged tin runs out.

Ah yes, ancient tins of Humbrol! I got given a tray of tins a few years back and one was a brand new tin of desert yellow which was so smooth and covered so well but stank of whatever quality ingredients they used back then but we didn't think about as home aromas were different in the eighties! This tin was probably late seventies/ early eighties as it had the grey band logo. I remember it from when Dad and I spent our winter evenings building a Model boat from a kit. We bought several of the large tins of dark blue and black gloss. I recall it having a minute tender that looked a bit like a clog!

Happy days forty years ago......  <:(
