Mayhem Century speed boat project!

Mayhem Century speed boat project!

First tests carried out just last week.

Initial results,
Stock battery (1800mAH) lasted about 8 seconds - total junk.  >:(
Fitted a 7.2v 3000mAH battery - ran extremely well for about 12 minutes.  :)
2nd test with a 8.4v 3300mAH - No perceptible increase in speed but ran just as well .  :) :)

Radio is nasty "bang, bang" control ie. speed is all or nothing... literally!  :(
Steering on the right stick is done by 'switching off one motors'!!!!  >:(
Because steering is so rubbish, the boat 'alls of the plane' in every turn and takes about 10 - 15 feet to get going again.
Frequency is fixed 27MHz ie. no crystals and is on about Red, Orange, Yellow and a bit into Green as well ! ::)

But here's the kicker... it's is without doubt THE BEST PLANING BOAT I'VE EVER HAD!!!!  O0 :o O0
Straight out of the box the balance and ride attitude is 2'nd to none!
Videos to follow.....

I paid £35 at the big Warwick Model boat show last year.
Available on Ebay, Amazon and some model shops.

You must have had a dud then cos mine lasts at least 30+Min's and a 3300 well I get bored with it and mine is on 40MHz BUT it is soon to have 2new speed controllers and a mixer and proper receiver and well me thinks Graupner 500s then watch it fly

the best and simplest mod you could do to this boat is install one good speed 500 or 600 maybe 700 motor new esc and a servo for a rudder and run a flex shaft and single prop dead centre and install a small wedge rudder to the right of the prop then this little boat will fly.myself im planning to use a small nitro motor in my sons windspeed hull  ;D.

while the .12 ran in it fine the .18 just overpowered it and was un controlable it srewed out all over the place when a certain speed was hit so i put the .12 back in.

doesnt seem as fast as the windspeed boat?,my lads is way faster with the stock motors ,def needs a new power plant,id go with one bigger motor single prop and a rudder offset to the right .in fact my lads pt boat runs faster with a 540 car motor in it  ;).
