I'd love to see a model of a Boeing Jetfoil too.

I travelled one one from London to Ostend and back in the late 70s or early 80s and it was MIND bending!

One of our club members had one that looked like the boxed model. If I remember correctly, they weren't very stable and never stayed on the foils for long.

We had jet-engine powered Italian built set of 8 Hydrofoil craftin Sydney Harbour [1965 to 1985], all similar to the vessels displayed in this thread

They were used in general Harbour runs, however naturally not suitable for the Circular-Quay to Manley voyage across the Heads

Due to high fuel costs, they were progressively replaced by Jetcats with MTU V16 diesels

Question.......how did the Hydrofiles go astern?...propeller via a crash gearbox?, or separate jet-wash reverser?

Derek

Thrust reverse buckets on the Jetfoils. Reverse on propeller driven ferries.
In military foils, there were often small auxiliary jet pumps for maneuvering.
The Italian Sparviero had a small auxiliary propeller.

Thanks Umi....

I chose conventional Ferries, and did not ride on a Hydrofoil craft, or during my work time at Garden Island, Navy Work Boats to cruise the Harbour  ;)  .....
