No, I did not misunderstand....as you clearly stated......

Well it would not be too difficult to install a 90 degree copper slither, to mechanically disturb the bubbles you cannot see

In that case I interpretes your post wrong, apologies.
I guess a 90 degree bent slither could be a possibility, but it would make assembly tricky.
If I'd ever get around to it, I'll probably drill out the feedwater channel a bit, or make it cone shaped widening towards the boiler, that might motivate those pesky bubbles to escape towards the waterdrum. I prefer that over loose parts in the waterspace.
As it is now, I have to say, since I have increased pump capacity, it has all appearance that a quick burst of full steam (thus a burst of feedwater) also clears those bubbles, since I seem to have a lot less disturbance in the level glass.
