Prop removal

(1/3) > >>

Darren007:
Just acquired a lovely Clyde puffer, runs ok has a car blower motor fitted. Id like to remove the prop and inspect the shaft but haven’t a clue how to. I can’t see how you would get the prop off.

Akira:
With disassembling the stern post, I am guessing that removing the motor and pulling the shaft out forward, into the hull, would do the trick. Hopefully, the shaft is not so long as to require further disassembly.

Darren007:
The motor has been glued in place rather then using a bracket

Darren007:
Is there a way to remove the prop without removing the motor? Would it be a case of holding the shaft and unscrewing the prop?

JimG:
From the notch in the stern post it loooks like there will be enough clearance to remove the prop from the shaft. You would need to rotate the shaft, not the prop while unscrewing the prop as it looks like the prop blades wouldn't pass the stern post.
