Fairmount Sherpa Radio Gear?
« on: November 28, 2023, 02:47:37 am »

Hi

I'm getting closer to needing radio gear for my Fairmount Sherpa tug and there is so much choice its confusing.
I don't need an expensive bit of kit but then I don't want the cheapest either.
I recon on an 8 channel set up as I never know what I'll add in the future currently it'll be for forward/aft/left/right/bow thruster/radar/lighting deck and nav.
What would you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head as the choice is endless. Buy what you can afford is probably the best advice and you don’t need the latest gear either.

On my Fairmount Alpine I had channels for the following.

1.  Rudder
2.  Forwards and backwards
3.  Bow thruster
4.  Deck lighting
5.  Pump for the fire monitors
6.  Steer for the fire monitors

That’s pretty much all I could fit into the hull

Cheers Mark

hi

its all down to what you can afford but i use a cheap 6ch as i currently have fwd aft p\s on one stick then bow and stern thruster on the other stick so thats my basic 4ch right away then i have my winch on a two way switch and currently have a spare as im looking at fitting a 2nd winch or working monitors
